Prayer Group
"Of all the Spiritual Disciplines prayer is the most central because it ushers us into perpetual communion with the Father" ~ Richard Foster, Celebration of Discipline. pg 33
Prayer is the active agent in changing lives. And changing lives from a life that is destructive to a life that is creating is the message Christ Jesus gives to each of us. The telos or goal of Christian Community is not getting to heaven, but rather to bring heaven to earth. And in order for that change to occur, it is something we must pray for in individual and communal life together.
Every Sunday evening at 5:30 is a small group of dedicated Christians who pray for the lives of this congregation, community, nation, and world. They pray for body related illnesses, relational problems, mental health, and more. They pray for God to enact change within the household of the faithful. Ultimately as Christ prayed in the garden of Gethsemane, they pray for God's will to be done.
This small group is open to any faithful believer of Jesus Christ, member of this congregation or not, member of the United Methodist Church or not, who has the desire for God's will to be done and believes in the power of prayer.
